Initial provisions

A priority for AL Events is to process your personal data in a correct and lawful way, and ensuring the protection of your personal data is one of our core standards. We therefore want to provide you with information about the reasons for processing your personal data and the basis on which it is processed. We would also like to inform you about the legal rights you can exercise in relation to the processing of your personal data.

We ask you to read the information below, written as questions and answers, to enable an easier and clearer understanding. Should anything remain unclear after reading this document, we will be glad to explain any part of it. Processing of personal data

The Controller may process the personal data of affected persons in different ways and situations, depending on whether the person is a visitor of the website, an employee of the Controller, or a statutory representative and/or employee of a business partner. Regardless of the situation, the Controller undertakes not to sell, commercialise or use the personal data of affected persons in violation of the Regulation and other applicable data protection rules.

The Controller respects the privacy of affected persons, whether their data is processed by the Controller itself or on behalf of other parties, and undertakes to ensure appropriate measures for the protection of identification and other personal data in accordance with the Regulation and applicable legislation. Where processing is entrusted to an intermediary, that processor may process personal data only to the extent and under the conditions agreed with the Controller in writing.

Your rights

Under the Regulation (GDPR), each affected person has, among others, the right of access to their personal data; the right to rectification; the right to erasure; the right to restriction of processing; the right to data portability; the right to object to processing; and the right to withdraw consent to processing at any time. Each of these rights is explained in detail in the corresponding article of our Personal Data Protection Policy.

Job applicants

Once an application for employment is submitted, this policy applies to the candidate and their personal data. The Controller explains how it uses a candidate's personal data obtained directly from the candidate or from third parties during a selection process. Access to this data is limited to authorised employees bound by professional secrecy, and the data is retained only for as long as necessary for the purpose of the selection procedure, unless a longer period is agreed by consent.

Persons published on the website

The principles set out here also apply to the processing of personal data of persons published in articles, promotional messages and similar content on the website. Disclosing such information is one of the Controller's main activities and aims to inform the public about conferences, seminars and related events. Personal data is processed only where the Controller has a legal title to do so, and it will not be used for automated decision-making or profiling.

Who can access your personal data

AL Events acquires personal data directly from you when entering into and performing a contract, from publicly accessible registers and websites, and from third parties entitled to handle your personal data. Your personal data may be accessed by the Controller, its employees and contractual agents — in particular members of the Allan Lloyds Group located in EU Member States and in third countries.

Even where personal data is transferred to third countries, AL Events provides adequate safeguards for your privacy, using the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission as a constant part of each contract with agents residing in any third country. Categories of agents that may access your personal data include external companies administering our systems, IT service providers, accounting and booking providers, tax consultancy and marketing agencies. In some cases defined by law, we are obliged to provide information to public authorities such as courts and law-enforcement bodies. If you participate in a conference or seminar (as speaker, delegate or sponsor), other participants may have access to your personal data where necessary to fulfil the contract.

Marketing

If you grant your consent, we also process your personal data for marketing purposes — offers of products and services of AL Events and our partners — sent via e-mail, messages, mobile applications, post or telephone. It is entirely your decision whether or not to agree to this processing, and your consent is voluntary. You may fully or partially withdraw your consent at any time by e-mail; if you prefer not to receive news of our products and services, we fully accept and respect your decision.

Cookies

When you visit the website, a small text file — a cookie — may be stored on your computer or mobile device while you browse. Cookies help the website recognise returning visitors, connect faster and avoid repeating already-displayed content. The Controller uses cookies to analyse website traffic (for example via Google Analytics) and to understand how visitors use the site; such data can be used for statistics without identifying individual visitors.

Session cookies are temporary and are deleted when you leave the website. Persistent cookies remain stored on your device so the website can remember you on return, without identifying you as an affected person. Cookies generally fall into four categories by function: operational, functional, advertising and analytical. Disabling necessary cookies means the Controller cannot guarantee the full functionality of the website.
